Grouper fishing with John
John and I had a great day of nearshore grouper fishing last week. John caught a limit of gags pretty quick as well as a limit of mangrove snapper.

I started my day with David a little later than usual due to the cold weather we have been having. Although we had a late start, the fishing was red hot! We managed 22 redfish and a dozen sheepshead at the very first spot. We had great action all day, rounding it out with 26 redfish, 18 sheepshead and few decent mangrove snapper mixed in.
I took a great client and friend Brian out today. The day started with this fat gag grouper but the water was muddy and cold. Brian and I persevered and scored a few small snook and redfish in the back, rounding out a slower than average day. All in all, it was a slow day but we still had a blast and put a few filets on his table.
The mullet run usually occurs around the full moon in the months of September, October and November. The action is spectacular as schools of mullet are jumping for their lives as hungry tarpon prey on them. This time of year is also great to find huge schools of tarpon feeding on glass minnow schools in the gulf.
John and his long time friend John joined me for a few days of mullet run tarpon fishing. The fish were on fire but we had a hard time keeping one on the hook. Out of the 14 fish that we had hooked we only landed two. Just the way it goes sometimes I guess.
Roberto and his brother in-law fished the mullet run with m today. The bite was slow in the morning but got real good abut 9:30. We wound up 2 for 5 with a few more swings and misses by the fish.
I fished with Nick and a few of his buddies for a bachelor party today. We caught plenty of snook and redfish. Nick caught the beautiful Naples redfish on the first cast!
Gary was from the U.K. but he had fished all over the world. He was a great angler and a blast to fish with. We fished two days together the first night it rained like crazy but we scored 5 small tarpon like the one above. The next morning we caught 1 big tarpon around 80 pounds.
I fished for snook in Naples Bay with a new client, Eric. The day started off slow but, as the tide came in so did the fish. We caught around 25 or 30 snook in 45 minutes! The action stayed hot until the boys arms were worn out. The snook fishing in Naples can be great in the summer.
Dan, his brother and a friend fished the spring Tarpon bite in sanibel with me. The fishing was pretty good going 3 for 5 on tarpon. I saw the biggest school of tarpon I have ever seen with them, about 400 fish!
